Lisa Ray Calls Priyanka Chopra ‘A Bold Woman’ For Her Remarks On Bollywood

Lisa Ray praised Priyanka Chopra for being open about her past and sharing her ‘beef with people’ story.

New Delhi: Priyanka Chopra was recently in the news because of her remarks on Bollywood. She admitted being ‘cornered’ in the industry and her ‘beef with people’ forced her to leave the profession and go to Hollywood. Recently, in an interview, actress Lisa Ray praised Priyanka, saying that the ‘Love Again’ star is an inspiring and bold woman. Lisa praised Priyanka for being open about her past.

Lisa Ray was questioned about her thoughts on Priyanka Chopra's recent comments about Bollywood and whether or not she had a similar experience.

Talking to The Times of India, Lisa Ray said, "I haven’t had that exact experience but I have written about my experiences in my book. I refused to play the game and I stood up against a lot of egos in the industry. I won’t say I paid the price for that because I never wanted to be part of mainstream Bollywood so I was in a very different position."

Praising Priyanka, she added, "I think that Priyanka is definitely a very bold, intelligent, accomplished and driven woman of today and a hope for tomorrow. She inspires the younger generation to pursue their vision, uncompromisingly. That’s another subtle message she gives out. So, I would rather speak on the subtle messages she puts out. Just by being out there, being self-made."

Priyanka said that she wanted to leave Bollywood, therefore she jumped at the chance to release her song.  “So when this music thing came I was like ‘fu** it I am going to America’,” the actress said.

In March, Priyanka Chopra originally revealed this to Dax Shepherd on his podcast Armchair Expert. She said that she was being ignored by the Bollywood industry.
