Karan Johar Jokes About Scandalous Bollywood WhatsApp Chats: ‘If It Leaked…’

Karan Johar’s latest revelation about a no-filter celebrity WhatsApp group has left fans amused and curious.

New Delhi: Filmmaker Karan Johar has always been known for speaking his mind, whether through candid interviews or viral social media takes. In a recent interaction with journalist Barkha Dutt for Mojo Story, the director made yet another headline-worthy revelation. He talked about a private WhatsApp group he shares with close friends from the film industry.

Responding to a cheeky fan suggestion about turning those chats into a movie or book, Karan offered a hilariously honest reply: “If anyone ever got access to those WhatsApp groups about me and many of my friends in the fraternity, I think we would have to move to London. We may not be able to continue living in our city.” His comment had the audience in splits.

Karan elaborated that this group isn’t your average casual chat — it’s a brutally honest, unfiltered space where opinions fly free and fierce. “Because let me tell you, they are very candid, honest, and sometimes very b**chy analysis of our immediate environment and what is going on. We are fashion critics, we are movie critics. We are critics of everything in that group. Everyone has an opinion, and none of us can ever put those opinions out there," he added.

The revelation has naturally sparked fan curiosity: Who exactly is in these chats? What do they really say about Bollywood films and fashion looks?

Karan Johar's Upcoming Projects

On the work front, the Dharma Productions head has a busy slate ahead. His upcoming projects include ‘Sarzameen', starring Kajol, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and debutant Ibrahim Ali Khan, set to release on Disney+ Hotstar on July 25. He also has ‘Dhadak 2’, featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, hitting cinemas on August 2.

In addition, his next production, ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ with Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, is already generating buzz.
