Kolkata: Bhuvan Badyakar, the peanut seller who shot to fame after his Kacha Badam song went viral, is all set to start a new journey. He will be starting his acting career, with 'jatras' (theatres) making a comeback after two years of Covid-induced disruption.
Bookings started on July 1, coinciding with Rath Yatra, and Chitpore, abode of Bengali jatra-palas, is all set to bounce back with different theatre companies are ready to stage their shows.
Among the attractions this time is Bhuvan Badyakar, who will be acting in a jatra.
The man from Birbhum’s Kuralijuri village would stand in a corner of the road and sell raw peanuts. Little did he know his jingle with a catchy tone would take the internet by storm, making people in all corners of the world jive to it. After music videos, he is now set to appear on stage, as part of a group theatre, ABP Ananda reported.
Talking about it, a producer at Sridurga Opera said the character of ‘jatra’ is changing. Bhuvan Badyakar will be seen in the role of ‘conscience’, ABP Ananda quoted him as saying.
Bhuvan’s new song 'Hobe Naki Bou' was released recently. The music video had garnered 1.4 lakh views in just two days. The song had Keshab Dey along with Bhivan lending his voice. The music video directed by Soumyajit Gangopadhyay also featured Bhuvan’s wife Aduri. He flew to Mumbai a few days ago to shoot the song, the ABP Ananda report said.
Apart from this, the second part of the Kacha Badam song was recorded recently by Zubin Mitra.
