'She Is Human': Deepika Padukone Fans Feel It's Okay If She Felt 'Nervous' On BAFTA Stage, 'Still Proud Of Her'
BAFTA 2024: Deepika Padukone presented the award for the Best Film not in the English language to director Jonathan Glazer for 'The Zone Of Interest'. The event was held in London.
The BAFTA Film Awards for 2023 were given away at a gala ceremony in London on February 18. Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' dominated the event as expected, winning seven BAFTAs, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Leading Actor. A highlight of the event held at London's Royal Festival Hall was the presence of Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone, who presented the award for the Best Film not in the English language. The award went to 'The Zone Of Interest' (German, Polish, Yiddish), and director Jonathan Glazer received it from Deepika, who looked stunning in a glittering Sabyasachi saree with sequins work, paired with a matching golden and silver-hued sleeveless blouse.
Her Indian look — complete with a messy hair bun, statement earrings, kohl-rimmed eyes, and dewy makeup — was much appreciated by fans across the country and abroad.
A video clip from the award night is now being shared widely where Deepika can be seen announcing the winner. Many are pointing out that her voice was "shaking" and "trembling", and that she might just display a bit of "stage fright".
The video posted on Reddit triggered a long discussion, with most believing she might have been a little "anxious and nervous", though they were at the same time totally forgiving and ready to "cut her some slack", saying she’s "human", and such "stage fear" was understandable when you are speaking at such a "big platform".
Seeking to humanise this trait, some Redditors also said they could "relate" with her situation, and would "want to give her a hug", because "no matter how groomed they are, there will always be some or the other kind of imperfection" in every human being.

Hosted by actor David Tennant, the 77th BAFTAs had an impressive lineup of presenters. Apart from Deepika Padukone, the names included Hugh Grant, Idris Elba, Dua Lipa, and Andrew Scott. Deepika was brilliant as he held her own, and we can surely cut her some slack even if the observation of a sudden 'stage fright' has any truth.
