Amid Death Threats, Somy Ali Talks About Salman Khan’s Blackbuck Killing Case: ‘Don’t Want Anyone Murdered…’

Somy Ali, Salman Khan's ex-girlfriend, talked about the incident at the time and claimed Salman didn’t know the blackbuck’s importance to the Bishnoi community.

Somy Ali, Salman Khan's ex-girlfriend, recently addressed the blackbuck killing case amid the death threats he’s receiving from Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang. She shared that they talked about the incident at the time and claimed Salman didn’t know the blackbuck’s importance to the Bishnoi community. Somy added that he had initially planned to take her on the hunting trip but decided against it, thinking she would scare off the prey.

Somy Ali on Salman Khan's blackbuck killing case

“Why should he apologise for something he didn’t know about? That’s like doing something inadvertently, unintentionally and being forced to apologise for it. It makes no sense. It’s not about ego. People say that he (Salman) is very arrogant and he has a reputation. I have nothing to do with him or his family today. I just don’t want anyone murdered, in Bollywood or Hollywood. Violence is never the answer,” she told India Today.

Somy shared her thoughts on the hunting incident, stating, “The Bishnoi community needs to understand that Salman didn’t know. He told me that he had no idea. It’s absurd.”

“I can assure you that Salman didn’t know the Bishnoi community worships blackbucks. I have been hunting with Salman many times during outdoor shooting. During the 1998 shooting, he didn’t take me because he said ‘you prey out loud on purpose and animals start running away’. I don’t like hunting as a sport. One time I didn’t go, he ended up catching the animal,” she added.

Somy shared that she hopes to speak with Lawrence Bishnoi someday to understand his perspective. She plans to be in India in November and will try to set up an interview with him during her visit.

Somy expressed concern for her ex-boyfriend and his family but reiterated that she has no ties with Salman anymore.

“I am anti-death penalty and anti-murder. I am as concerned about Salman as I am about a man walking down the street or my neighbour. I do not want to have a conversation, do not have feelings for Salman. I do not care about him, I don’t want to reunite with him. I don’t want any publicity from him. I don’t want his money. I have my own money. The last time I spoke to Salman was in 2012. I haven’t spoken to him in years. The only thing I want is not for anyone to be murdered,” she said.

Somy’s remarks follow a recent wave of death threats directed at Salman Khan. On Friday, the Mumbai Traffic Police received two messages on WhatsApp demanding Rs 5 crore from him. The threats ominously stated that if Salman didn't pay, he would face a fate worse than NCP leader Baba Siddique, who was recently murdered.
