The veteran actor Seema Deo died on August 24. She was known for her famous parts in 'Anand' and 'Koshish'.

New Delhi: Actress Seema Deo, who had roles in classic films including 'Anand,' 'Koshish,' and 'Kora Kagaz,' died on August 24. The 81-year-old actress had a successful career in both the Hindi and Marathi film industries. Abhinay Deo, her son and a film director, announced the sad news. For almost three years, Seema had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

Seema’s son Abhinay Deo told PTI, "She passed away at 8.30-9 am at her residence in Bandra due to old age. She had been withdrawn completely, and eventually, it is just old age. Alzheimer's is such a thing that you stop figuring out how to function. She had dementia leading up to Alzheimer's and she was suffering from it for over three years. "There’s no specific reason (for her death). Due to Alzheimer's and dementia, the person forgets how to walk. The muscle memory starts coming down and one by one, the organs start shutting down.”

Seema Deo had a career spanning over 80 films. Her filmography includes such titles as ‘Jagachya Pathivar’, ‘Vardakshina’ and other Marathi films. Her last performance was in the 2021 Marathi film ‘Jivan Sandhya’, in which she once again captivated viewers with her ability.

While looking back on her career, Seema Deo gave most of the credit to her mentor, Raja Paranjape. She once said, at an event in Pune, "Whatever I could achieve in my career, it’s all because of my guru Raja Paranjape. He not only taught me to act but also trained me so rigorously that it became very natural."

The veteran actress was showered with goodbye wishes from her fans.

Seema's husband, actor Ramesh Deo, passed away after a heart attack last year. They got married in 1960. Seema Deo is survived by her sons, Abhinay and Ajinkya Deo.
