Radhika Apte Raises Concern About Bollywood’s Support For New Moms: ‘Don’t Know How I’m Going To Navigate…’
Radhika Apte talked about the difficulties faced by new mothers in the Indian film industry, saying the environment is far from supportive for women.

New Delhi: Actor Radhika Apte has joined the growing chorus of voices in Bollywood highlighting the challenges working mothers face in the film industry. In a recent interview with The Indian Express, the 'Sister Midnight' star candidly shared her concerns regarding motherhood and the demanding work culture of Indian cinema.
When asked if the industry is supportive of new mothers, Radhika didn’t mince words. “I don’t think they are. I don’t know how I’m going to navigate that going ahead,” she said, acknowledging the uncertainty ahead as she tries to balance her personal and professional life.
Speaking further about the grind of film sets, she shared, “It’s really difficult to work in our film industry, given the number of hours and how we film generally, and the time for which we don’t get to see the child. So I guess I’ll just have to figure it out now.”
Her comments come at a time when the conversation around work-life balance for women in cinema has gained momentum. Recently, Deepika Padukone reportedly opted out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film after her request for an 8-hour workday and equitable pay wasn’t fulfilled.

Ajay Devgn's Comment On Working Mothers
Apte's comments come in the wake of a recent debate sparked by Deepika Padukone's exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film 'Spirit'.
During the trailer launch of 'Maa', Ajay Devgn weighed in, saying, “It’s not that it’s not going well with people. People understand. Most of the honest filmmakers, I would say, will not have a problem with this… people have started working eight to nine hours in a shift. So I think it’s person-to-person, but most of the industry does understand.”
