Priyanka Chopra Recalls Walking Out Of Film At 19 After Director's Shocking Comment: 'Should Be Able To See Her Panties'

Priyanka Chopra shared a shocking incident from when she was just 19 years old and new to the film industry.

New Delhi: Globally acclaimed actress Priyanka Chopra recently spoke up about a traumatic event that happened to her when she was younger. During her speech at the Forbes Power Women's Summit, the ‘Citadel’ actress recalled an uncomfortable experience on set with a director when she was just 19 years old.

Priyanka Chopra stated that the filmmaker had yelled at her stylist, "People who are sitting upfront, they should be able to see her panties," and insisted that she wear very short clothing. The actress said, "I am standing right behind him, he is sitting on his chair in a really entitled way and he picks up the phone and he goes like 'listen people are coming into the movies to watch her when she shows her panties. So it needs to be really short, so that I can see her panties.. And he said it like four times."

Priyanka Chopra's Reaction

After being deeply affected by the experience, Priyanka Chopra reluctantly decided to withdraw from the project. She shared, “I went back home that night and said, ‘Mom, I can’t look at his face. If that’s what he thinks of me, if that’s how small I am, there’s no space for growth.’ And I just walked out of the movie and said, ‘I’m sorry, I can’t work.’ And I’ve, to date, never worked with him.”

From that point on, Priyanka said, “Whatever I decide to be will be my choice. How I want to be perceived will be my choice. Perception is reality, and my perception is going to be my identity."

In the past, Priyanka has also addressed the difficulties she has had in her professional life. She has also discussed a "dark phase" that she went through after undergoing cosmetic surgery, that left her with serious mental health issues.
