Kill Actor Raghav Juyal Why People Enjoy Watching Violence In Films: 'Like Bigg Boss...'

Actor Raghav Juyal gained praise for his portrayal of a menacing antagonist in the action flick, 'Kill'.

Actor Raghav Juyal is having a standout year with the successes of ‘Kill’ and ‘Gyaarah Gyaarah’. After receiving acclaim for his portrayal of a menacing antagonist in the action flick, he took on the role of a police officer in ‘Gyaarah Gyaarah’. In a recent interview with Sucharita Tyagi, Raghav discussed his diverse roles and shared insights into his preparation for intense characters, including his part in Siddhant Chaturvedi's film ‘Yudhra’.

Raghav Juyal on on-screen violence

When asked about his perspective on on-screen violence, Raghav Juyal shared that he finds it enjoyable to watch. Raghav said, "I enjoy watching violence, but I can't tolerate anything related to molestation. It really affects me; I can't even read news about it. Violence, on the other hand, is something I watch like, if a horror film doesn't have horror, then what's the point?"

Juyal also discussed why people are drawn to on-screen violence, describing it as a natural ‘tribal’ instinct.

"It's a tribal instinct. For example, I don't know if I can mention the name of that show, like Bigg Boss. Nothing else is happening on TV, no dance shows or anything, because it's a tribal instinct. Tribes have been witnessing violence for years—like hunting a deer. All of these things fall under violence. It's in our DNA. We're curious about what's happening in someone else's house, what's going on in another tribe, gathering around a fire and telling stories. Cinema will never die because it's a shared, community feeling. That doesn't mean people want to actually do these things—just like with video games, it's about getting that dopamine rush," he said.

Raghav Juyal talks about impact of films in India

Later in the interview, while talking about toxic masculinity and film morality, Raghav shared his thoughts on how a film’s message can affect its audience.

"If films really taught something, then everyone would be walking around as Mother India or Birju. If a film was like a moral science lecture. But India is a place where people start worshipping heroes and try to copy them, which is wrong. If I act in a film where I play the hero and I'm shown killing someone, then four people might try to copy that, which is wrong in India. Outside, when a film is made, people just go to watch it as a film."

On the work front, Raghav was last seen in ‘Yudhra’, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi in the lead role. The film, directed by Ravi Udyawar, also stars Malavika Mohanan, Gajraj Rao, Ram Kapoor, and Raj Arjun. It is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, and Sudha Anukta.
