Diljit Dosanjh Says He Won't Do Concerts In India Until Infrastructure Is Developed For Live Shows

Singer Diljit Dosanjh has declared that he will no longer perform concerts in India until the country improves its infrastructure for live shows.

Singer Diljit Dosanjh has declared that he will no longer perform concerts in India until the country improves its infrastructure for live shows. The announcement, made during his Chandigarh concert on December 14, was captured in several videos shared across social media platforms.

In one of the clips, Diljit is seen addressing the audience in Punjabi. He said, “Here we don’t have infrastructure for live shows. This is a source of big revenue, many people get work and are able to work here...I’ll try next time that the stage is at the centre so that you can be around it. Till this happens, I won’t do shows in India, that’s for sure.”

Diljit dedicated the Chandigarh concert to Gukesh

Diljit’s Chandigarh performance was part of his ongoing Dil-Luminati tour, which he dedicated to India’s newly crowned International Chess Federation (FIDE) World Champion, Gukesh Dommaraju. During the event, the singer lauded Gukesh’s determination and relentless efforts from a young age, which ultimately led to his remarkable achievement.

In a lighthearted moment, he referenced a popular dialogue from the film 'Pushpa: The Rise', starring Allu Arjun. Putting his own twist on the iconic line "Jhukega Nahi" (won’t bow), Diljit remarked, “Saala nahi jhukega toh kya jija jhuk jayega” (If he won’t bow, will his brother-in-law bow instead?).

Ahead of the Chandigarh concert, the singer faced an advisory from the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR). The organization, led by chairperson Shipra Bansal, urged him to refrain from performing songs that promote themes of alcohol, drugs, or violence. Specific tracks like "Patiala Peg," "5 Tara," and "Case" were highlighted in the advisory, cautioning against even altered versions of such songs.

Diljit’s Dil-Luminati tour is set to conclude with a final performance in Guwahati on December 29.
