Deepika Padukone Talks About Mom Guilt, Getting Back To Work After Welcoming Daughter Dua

Deepika Padukone opened up about the challenges of returning to work after becoming a mother.

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh welcomed their first daughter, Dua, in September 2024. Just two months after Dua's arrival, the couple appeared together in Rohit Shetty's 'Singham Again'. However, Deepika has reportedly not filmed any projects since her daughter’s birth. During the Forbes 30/50 Global Summit in Abu Dhabi, she opened up about the challenges of returning to work after becoming a mother.

Deepika Padukone on motherhood

Deepika shared, “I think where I'm at in my life right now is how do I manage my time as a mother, as a new mother, with getting back to--and I'm sure there's some incredible women here who can give me some wise, some wisdom, whatever-- but to be able to manage my daughter and her life and getting back to work without feeling guilt. I think that is something I'm figuring out. I won't say I am struggling with, but I'm still figuring it out.”

Deepika also shared her thoughts on motherhood and how it will shape the kind of roles and projects she takes on in the future. The actress explained, “Yes, I think motherhood in itself has been so incredible that I'm sure somewhere, if not consciously, subconsciously it will influence the kind of movies and the roles that I choose to do moving forward. Having said that, I do believe that I've been pretty aware and conscious even before motherhood.”

Deepika Padukone's projects

On the work front, there were recent rumours about Deepika Padukone making a comeback alongside Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh. It was speculated that the two stars might collaborate for a special music video, choreographed by Farah Khan. Deepika was last seen in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ and is currently on maternity leave after welcoming her first child, daughter Dua, last year. She will soon appear in the sequel to the film and has the Indian remake of ‘The Intern’ with Amitabh Bachchan lined up as well.
