Anushka Sharma’s Chakda 'Xpress Release Stalled Due To Netflix Fallout, Shares Editor And Writer
Editor Manas Mittal and writer Abhishek Banerjee recently shed light on the reasons behind the delay in Anushka Sharma’s Chakda 'Xpress.

New Delhi: Anushka Sharma's Chakda 'Xpress, a biography of Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami, is still in the holding phase, with rifts between Netflix and Clean Slate Filmz being a major factor in the postponement of its release. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, the film's editor, Manas Mittal, disclosed that the original release date was "just before the World Cup" in 2023.
The film's initial timeline was set as early as April 2020, but preparations were interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. During the lockdown, Anushka Sharma revealed her pregnancy, the original producer left the film, and director Prosit Roy got preoccupied with 'Paatal Lok'.
When Netflix joined the production in 2022, the movie gained fresh life and became an OTT feature. The platform did not request that the script be altered, according to writer Abhishek Banerjee.
For Chakda 'Xpress, Anushka Sharma undertook a rigorous seven-month training program to be ready for the position after giving birth to his daughter Vamika.
Chakda 'Xpress Teaser Controversy
The film's problematic production was discussed by Mittal and writer Abhishek Banerjee in an interview with THR India.
According to the film's writer, Abhishek Banerjee, Netflix used a look test Anushka made for an agency to create a teaser for the film, rather than genuine video from the set. He said, “The scary part is that this teaser is the publicly available material from Chakda ‘Xpress. Our film, though, has nothing to do with that.”
The already strained relationship between Clean Slate Filmz and Netflix was further aggravated by the teaser's negative reception. The controversy has revolved around Clean Slate Filmz, the production company that Anushka Sharma and her brother Karnesh Ssharma co-founded. Even though Anushka has left the production company, the aftermath continues to jeopardise the film's future.
