Amaal Mallik Issues Clarification After Deleting Controversial Post About Depression And Family Rift

Amaal Mallik has deleted his emotionally charged Instagram post where he shared his ongoing battle with depression.

New Delhi: After making waves with his open confession of struggling with severe depression and cutting family connections, singer-songwriter Amaal Mallik has removed the contentious post and provided an explanation. Amaal reiterated his love for his family, whom he had continued to love despite the difficulties.

Amaal recently issued a statement in which he begged the media not to sensationalise his prior post, which had ignited an extensive amount of debate. He wrote, “Thank you for the love and support it truly means a lot, but I would request the media portals to not harass my family. Please don’t sensationalise and give negative headlines to my vulnerability…It’s a request. It’s taken a lot for me to open up & it is a very tough time for me…I will always love my family but for now, from afar.”

Additionally, he made it clear that his brother Armaan Malik's relationship with him has not been impacted by the turbulence. "Nothing changes between us brothers, Armaan and I are one and nothing can come between us. Love & peace," he concluded. 

Amaal Mallik's Deleted Post

Amaal shared an open and honest description of his life problems in his now-deleted Instagram post. He said that he has decided to keep his family relationships strictly professional going forward, and he blamed their parents for a lot of the tension.

Amaal wrote about how he felt undervalued and ignored by his family after devoting years to the music business and writing 126 songs in the previous decade. He said, “Today, with a heavy heart, I announce that I am stepping away from these personal ties. From now on, my interactions with my family will be strictly professional. This isn’t a decision made in anger but one born from the necessity to heal and reclaim my life.”

Earlier, Amaal's mother Jyothi Mallik chose to remain silent, saying that anything Amaal wanted to disclose was entirely his choice.
