'Clinically Depressed, Robbed Of Peace’: Amaal Mallik Cuts Ties with Family, Blames Parents For Rift With Brother Armaan

Amaal Mallik has revealed his long-standing battle with clinical depression and announced his decision to cut personal ties with his family.

New Delhi: Famous artist Amaal Mallik has broken his silence about his struggle with depression and his decision to cut ties with his loved ones. In a long Instagram post, the musician opened up about his emotional suffering, strained family relationships and other issues. 

Son of Daboo Malik and nephew of famous composer Anu Malik, Amaal has vented his anger and felt unappreciated for all his efforts. He wrote, "I made every dream on earth within an arm's reach for them, so that they can stand tall in front of the world and keep their head held high. I along with my brother's vocal prowess have changed the narrative of being called XYZ's nephew or son to whoever we are today!"

Amaal Mallik Blames Family for Strained Bonds

Amaal blamed his parents for the conflict that had developed in his relationship with his brother Armaan Malik. He said that he felt inadequate and resentful because, despite his achievements in his career, he was always made to feel "less."

He continued, "I've reached a point where I can no longer keep silent about the pain I've endured... I have spent my blood, sweat & tears to create each of the 126 melodies that have released over the last decade."

Amaal stressed that cutting off contact with his family was not an angry choice, but rather one he made after realising he needed to recover and regain control of his life. He said, “Today, with a heavy heart, I announce that I am stepping away from these personal ties. From now on, my interactions with my family will be strictly professional. This isn’t a decision made in anger, but one born from the necessity to heal and reclaim my life. I refuse to let the past rob me of my future any longer. I am committed to rebuilding my life, piece by piece, with honesty and strength."

Amaal Mallik’s Mother Responds to His Emotional Post
