Britney Spears Secures A Tell-All Book Deal For Whopping $15 Million
On Monday, Britney Spears allegedly inked a deal to write a tell-all memoir.
New Delhi: Britney Spears, who won her protracted court struggle against her conservatorship last year, has secured a contract with publisher Simon & Schuster to write a book about her life.
The announcement of the singer's upcoming book was originally reported by the New York Post. According to a source close to Spears, the singer just signed a contract worth more than $15 million.
That might be one of the most costly book agreements in years, following former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama's agreement with Penguin Random House in 2017 that was allegedly for $60 million (£44 million).
The book deal comes months after Spears successfully confronted a court-ordered conservatorship imposed by her father, Jamie Spears, for nearly 14 years. The conservatorship, which is normally used for elderly or infirm persons who are unable to make choices for themselves, was imposed on Spears in 2007 following a period of mental illness.
In September, the judge halted her father's conservatorship, which was later revoked totally in November. Soon later, Spears stated that her family members "should all be in jail" for the demoralising abuse she claims she received under the arrangement.
The release of the book coincides with the Grammy winner's new beginnings. Her 13-year conservatorship ended last year and she is engaged to her longtime lover, Sam Ashari.
Britney Spears has yet to make a public statement about her plans for the book.
