Popular singer of the 90s, Baba Sehgal’s father passed away due to COVID-19 infection. The singer shared the news on his social media.
He wrote while sharing, “Dad left us today early morning. Please keep him in your prayers 🙏 stay safe & blessed”.
Baba Sehgal, who is presently in Hyderabad, told ABP News, “My father was recovering well from COVID-19. Suddenly, late in the evening, his oxygen level dropped.”
He continued, “My father lived with my sister and brother-in-law in the metropolitan area near Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. My Corona positive father was home quarantine for the last 8 days. But on Monday night, when my father's oxygen level decreased suddenly, it was really hard to take him to the hospital. An ambulance was managed with great difficulty and then as soon as he was taken to the hospital, there were no oxygen cylinders. There was also no provision of beds for new patients and there was already facing a shortage of ventilators. If all the things were arranged in time, then perhaps my father would not have died.”
Baba Sehgal is considered as the world’s first Hindi rap megastar. He released his first album ‘Dilruba’ in the year 1990, which was then followed by ‘Alibaba’ in 1991. He was one of the most famous personalities of his times. His biggest hit album was ‘Thanda Thanda Pani’ which released in the year 1992.
Baba Sehgal made his acting debut with the 1998 Bollywood film ‘Miss 420’ alongside Sheeba Akashdeep. He also made his Telugu debut with Anushka Shetty’s popular 2015 film ‘Rudhramadevi’.
Baba Sehgal was also a contestant in Salman Khan’s popular Television reality show ‘Bigg Boss’. The singer participated in the first season of the show.
