10 South Indian Films That Are All Set For Their Bollywood Remake
In light of the enormous popularity of several South Indian movies that were translated into Hindi, the following list of forthcoming Bollywood remakes can also become a box office hit.
New Delhi: Bollywood movies are renowned for their drama, humour, thrill, and most significantly, their music and dance. Not just that, but Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada blockbusters and films that were based on or adapted from them were all popular in Bollywood.
In light of the enormous popularity of several South Indian movies that were translated into Hindi, including Kabir Singh, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and Hera Pheri, the following list of forthcoming Bollywood remakes can also become a box office hit.
1. Remake of Kaithi- Bholaa
Director Dharmendra Sharma is currently filming 'Bholaa' which is an adaptation of the 2019 Tamil action-thriller 'Kaithi', starring Karthik. Karthik Sivakumar's character- Dilli, will be played by Ajay Devgn, and is the lead role. The story is about an ex-convict, who after being freed from jail, looks for his daughter. A narcotics raid, however, puts a stop to him.
The film is scheduled to be released on March 30, 2023.
2. Remake of Soorarai Pottru
'Soorarai Pottru', a Tamil blockbuster that bagged National Awards, is getting its Hindi remake. Actor Suriya played the lead role in the 2020 movie, which was directed by Sudha Kongara. Akshay Kumar will take on the part originally portrayed by Suriya in the Hindi version. Along with this, Radhika Madan will also appear in the movie.
The main character in the Tamil version of the movie is presented as a young guy from a different hamlet who wants to build his own aviation firm. But he must overcome a lot of obstacles in order to complete his quest.
The title has not yet been decided by the filmmakers and the movie is currently under production.
3. Remake of Anniyan- Apricihit
Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh has been cast in the main role of Shankar's next Hindi remake of the Tamil hit movie 'Anniyan', which is also directed by himself. A guy with multiple personality disorders who works as a lawyer by day and a vigilante at night is the subject of the 2005 psychological action thriller starring South star Vikram.
4. Remake of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo- Shehzaada
Allu Arjun has established himself as a major player after 'Pushpa: The Rise', especially in Hindi-speaking regions. The 2020 blockbuster Telugu family comedy 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo' which stars Allu Arjun, is being remade in Bollywood as 'Sheshzada'. Kartik Aaryan plays the protagonist role in the movie, which also stars Kriti Sanon, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Ronit Roy, and Sachin Khedekar.
The movie, directed by Rohit Dhawan, is scheduled to hit theatres on February 10th, 2023.
5. Remake of Helen- Mili
A remake of his own 2019 Malayalam film 'Helen', Mathukutty Xavier's next survival thriller 'Mili', is set to be released in Hindi. Ritesh Shah has written the screenplay. The film, which is directed by Manoj Pahwa and produced by Boney Kapoor, also stars Sunny Kaushal, Manoj Pahwa, and Janhvi Kapoor as the lady who is trapped in a freezer and struggling for her life.
The release day for the movie is set for November 4th, 2022.
6. Remake of Drishyam 2
Bollywood grasped the opportunity to remake the sequel of 'Drishyam', after the regional film 'Drishyam 2', starring Mohanlal gained immense fame. Abhishek Pathak is directing the film, which stars Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta in the key roles. Rajat Kapoor and Akshaye Khanna are two more well-known actors that have been cast in the Hindi remake.
The movie is scheduled to be released on 18 November 2022. Ajay Devgn recently took to Instagram and shared the first look at this upcoming movie.
7. Remake of Driving Licence- Selfiee
'Selfiee', the Bollywood remake of the 2019 superhit Malayalam comedy-drama starring Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu, will include Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi in the lead roles.
The movie will reportedly be directed by Raj Mehta and will be released in 2023.
8. Remake of Thadam- Gumraah
Together with Aditya Roy Kapur, Mrunal Thakur will co-star in the Hindi remake of the well-known Tamil movie 'Thadam'. The Hindi version, according to the filmmakers, will be called 'Gumraah'.
In the movie, Aditya appears in two entirely separate avatars with a double role for the very first time in the crime thriller, which is based on real occurrences. Mrunal, on the other hand, will portray a police officer. The two key players in this thriller will be engaged in a heated argument.
The movie is being made by Murad Khetani's Cine1 Studios and Bhushan Kumar's T-Series under the direction of newbie filmmaker Vardhan Ketkar.
9. Remake of The Great Indian Kitchen
The Great Indian Kitchen, a highly acclaimed Malayalam film directed by Jeo Baby, featured actress Nimisha Sajayan in the main role. With main actress Sanya Malhotra, producer Harman Baweja, and director Arati Kadav, the movie is ready for its Hindi version.
10. Remake of Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru- Sanki
In the Hindi adaptation of Karthick Naren's Tamil murder mystery 'Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru', Varun Dhawan will play the role of the protagonist, with Parineeti Chopra taking on the female lead. Naren will direct the film, and Sajid Nadiadwala will serve as producer.
After an incident occurs while working on a case, a police officer decides to resign. Years later, when he tells the tale to his friend's kid, he is made to relive the past.
The film is now under development and may hit theatres by the end of 2022 or the start of 2023.
