UP Election: 50,000 Paramilitary Personnel Deployed, Borders Sealed Ahead Of Phase 1 Polling Tomorrow
UP Elections 2022: The borders have been sealed by the police and the 58 constituencies that undergo polling tomorrow are under strict vigilance.
New Delhi: As the day descends into the eve of polling day for the first phase on Thursday, security preparations have been made in Uttar Pradesh. With 403 assembly seats in the fray, the Election Commission of India (ECI) had announced to conduct UP assembly polls 2022 in seven phases.
Nearly 50,000 paramilitary personnel from 412 companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) are deployed at different locations to maintain peace during the electoral process in Western UP. The borders have been sealed by the police and the 58 constituencies that undergo polling tomorrow are under strict vigilance.
“The highest deployment will be seen in Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, and Meerut. In Mathura alone, 75 coys of paramilitary have been deployed and the total force deployed is 21,000 in this constituency," the security officials told news agency ANI.

The officials also said that strict vigilance is being maintained on the borders near Haryana and Rajasthan where police are checking cars. Some officers and teams are also engaged in collecting the required election material.
“There will be movement of force throughout and voting will be held amidst tight security. Duty cards were allotted. The liquor shops have been closed for 48 hours and will open only once the voting is over,” the officials told ANI.
The official also added that any kind of poster, banner, or hoarding seen in the 200 meters radius of the polling booth will be considered as a violation of the Model Code of Conduct and will be taken down immediately.
In the first phase of the UP assembly election, 58 constituencies of 11 districts will go to the polls. These constituencies are Shamli, Mathura, Agra, Muzaffarnagar, Bagpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Hapur, Bulandshahr, and Aligarh.
The campaigning for the first phase ended on Tuesday evening. And the same for the second phase began on Wednesday. The seven phases of the assembly polls in UP will conclude on March 7, and the result will be declared on March 10. The current UP assembly’s tenure ends on March 14, 2022.
