TRS will form government on its own strength, we will stand by it: Asaduddin Owaisi

Just a day ahead of the counting of votes, Owaisi had a three-hour-long meeting with KCR where he rejected the probability of BJP going with TRS and said KCR was also confident of victory.

New Delhi: AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday exuded confidence that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi led by caretaker CM K Chandrasekhara Rao will form the next government in Telangana on its own strength and his party will stand by it, brushing aside all speculations on the alliance possibilities of the party. Just a day ahead of the counting of votes, Owaisi had a three-hour-long meeting with KCR where he rejected the probability of BJP going with TRS and said KCR was also confident of victory. While talking to reporters, he said he is pretty sure and confident and so is KCR ‘saab’ that the people of Telangana will once again elect KCR to the Chief Minister’s post and he will form a new government based on his own strength. He rejected the scenario of AIMIM backing out if BJP goes with TRS. He said that BJP had five seats in the earlier assembly (now dissolved). He claimed that BJP’s seat share will only decrease in the result tomorrow. Owaisi’s remark brushed aside all speculations that were triggered after BJP hinted that it had not closed the option of extending support to the TRS in case it falls short of numbers. Earlier in the day, BJP’s spokesperson GVL Narsimha Rao told reportrs that the party wanted a stable government so it wpould extend support to whosoever seeks it in case of a hung assembly. He added that the support would certainly not go to Congress or the MIM. AIMIM which had won seven assembly seats in the 2014 polls contested eight seats in the current elections and supported the TRS. Owaisi had also canvassed and organised public meetings in support of TRS in the run-up to the elections.
