Centre Committed To Ending Injustice Done To Madiga Community: PM Modi In Telangana

PM Modi in poll-bound Telangana's Kamareddy assured the expedited formation of a committee to address sub-categorisation in Scheduled Castes (SC) reservation for the Madiga community.

In a public address in poll-bound Telangana's Kamareddy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday assured the expedited formation of a committee to address sub-categorisation in Scheduled Castes (SC) reservation for the Madiga community.

Expressing concern for the Madiga community, PM Modi stated, "BJP understands the injustice done to the Madiga community. The Government of India is committed to ending this injustice, and a committee is being formed to expedite the process." He emphasised the BJP's track record in delivering on promises, citing the abolition of triple talaq, the removal of Article 370, and the construction of the Ram Temple.

"People have seen our track record in national politics. BJP fulfills what it promises. We promised removal of Article 370; it was done. We promised to end 'triple talaq'; we did it. We fulfilled our promise of Women Reservation in Parliament. We fulfilled our promise of OROP. We had promised that Ram Temple (in Ayodhya) will definitely be built, and we are fulfilling it," remarked PM Modi.

Addressing the aspirations of the poor, farmers, Dalits, and the backward, PM Modi declared the BJP's manifesto as a symbol of these aspirations. He noted the completion of the promised Turmeric Board in Telangana by the BJP-led Union government.

Expressing optimism about the upcoming elections in Telangana, PM Modi stated, "I see a wave of change in Telangana. The people of Telangana are fed up with the 9-year rule of the BRS government and want freedom from it. This time the wind is in favor of BJP."

Telangana Election 2023: Madiga Community Reservation

In response to the demands of the Madiga community, PM Modi on Friday directed Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba and senior officials to expedite the formation of a committee for the sub-categorisation of Scheduled Castes reservation for the Madiga community, news agency PTI reported citing official sources. The move came after PM Modi's earlier announcement at a rally organised by the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) in Telangana.

Madigas are a major constituent of the Scheduled Castes in the Telugu-speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The MRPS has been demanding the categorisation of SCs since the last three decades on the grounds that the yields of reservations have not reached them.

Telangana is set to go to the polls on November 30, with the ruling BRS, Congress, and BJP in a closely contested battle.
