Rampur: Case filed against Azam Khan for violating Model Code of Conduct
Azam Khan said “Here district authorities threatened people to not go and vote”. He said “In the entire nation, Rampur is the only city where pressure was built on one section of people so that they do not cast their vote; shops were looted and damaged.”
Uttar Pradesh: Another case of violation of Model Code of Conduct has been filed against Samajwadi Party candidate Azam Khan, who has recently been making headlines for several controversial statements. Khan levied several allegations on officials of District Administration. He held district administration responsible for low voter turn-out in Rampur.
Azam Khan also accused the authorities of discriminating against a certain class of people. Authorities have considered this statement as violation of Model Code of Conduct.
Azam Khan said “Here district authorities threatened people to not go and vote”. He said “In the entire nation, Rampur is the only city where pressure was built on one section of people so that they do not cast their vote; shops were looted and damaged.”
Commenting on Azam Khan’s statement, district officer Saloni Aggarwal said “His statement is a violation of Model Code of Conduct, and a case has been filed against him over the same”. She said that “names of three people have been mentioned in the case- Azam Khan, Program’s organizer Jaiprakash Sagar and speaker Radheshyam Rahi”.
She said that the program was organized only after seeking permission.
