Punjab Polls | BJP, AAP Are Similar, Both Modi & Kejriwal Started From RSS: Priyanka Gandhi

She slammed both the parties by taking on the BJP’s “Gujarat model” and AAP’s “Delhi model.”

New Delhi: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi launched a series of attacks at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) saying that both parties are similar to each other.

Addressing a rally in Punjab’s Rupnagar, Priyanka said that both the parties "play the same game."

“You have BJP and AAP leaders before you - both of them play the same game. Both of them are similar. Look at Narendra Modi and Arvind Kejriwal - where did they both begin from? Both of them started from RSS,” the Congress leader said.

She slammed both the parties by taking on the BJP’s “Gujarat model” and AAP’s “Delhi model.”

“One of them talks of the Gujarat model, the other talks of the Delhi model. But you saw the Gujarat model - nobody got jobs, nobody's business is running fine, nobody received any aid. Similarly, no new hospital or educational institution was built under the Delhi model, no new jobs,” she added reports news agency ANI.

The Congress General Secretary accused both the parties of appeasing the people of Punjab and said, "Tell them nobody becomes a Sardar just by wearing a turban on stage. Tell them who the real Sardar is. Tell that of the hard work and courage in this turban. Tell them Punjab belongs to Punjabis & they'll run it.."

During the Congress rally in Rupnagar, Priyanka Gandhi was accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. She also offered prayers at Gurudwara Shri Tibbi Sahib in Ropar earlier today.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was also in Patiala today where he also launched a series of attacks on BJP and AAP during his public address.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday addressed a public rally in Jalandhar, ahead of the Punjab Assembly polls, where he promised to build a “Nava Punjab.”

On Saturday, Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita and daughter Harshita campaigned for the party’s chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann in Punjab. Mann will contest the poll from Dhuri constituency.

The 117 seat Punjab Legislative Assembly will undergo polling in a single phase on February 20 and the votes will be counted on March 10.
