Congress's 'Bhakti For Shakti' Grows Amid Row Over Rahul's Comment, PM Modi's Takedown

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi hailed Maa Durga as an "embodiment" of mantras, scriptures, and weapons.

Amidst row over Rahul Gandhi's “Shakti” remark, Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi and others on Tuesday in an act of devotion towards shakti, extended Navratri greetings to the nation. Taking to X, Congress Chief Kharge stated: "Hearty best wishes to everyone on the auspicious occasion of 'Chaitra Navratri', the great festival of worship of Adishakti, Maa Durga. I hope that this great festival will bring happiness, peace, prosperity and well-being in the lives of all of you and the blessings of Goddess Mother will remain on everyone."

Hailing Maa Durga as an "embodiment" of mantras, scriptures, and weapons, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on her official X handle wrote: "May Mother who brings welfare to the entire world infuse happiness, prosperity and peace in your lives."

This comes after a controvery was erupted following Rahul Gandhi's 'fight against Shakti' remark and comments on Electronic Voting Machines (EVM).

'Fight Against Shakti': Rahul Gandhi

Speaking at a public gathering in Mumbai, Rahul Gandhi had said: "There is a word 'Shakti' in Hinduism. We are fighting against a Shakti".

"The question is, what is that Shakti? The soul of the King is in the EVM. This is true. The soul of the King is in the EVM and in every institution of the country, in ED, CBI, and the Income Tax department," he further stated.

'Can Someone Talks About Destruction Of Shakti': PM Modi Hits Back At Rahul's Remark

Rahul Gandhi's remarks have drawn fierce criticism from the BJP, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In numerous election rallies, Prime Minister has responded to the Congress leader's comments by stating that 'Shakti' in Hinduism signifies the embodiment of the divine, and alleging that opposition parties are attempting to undermine it.

"Can someone talk about the destruction of 'Shakti'?... The fight is between those who want to destroy 'Shakti' and those who worship 'Shakti'," PM Modi stated in Telangana.

Soon after the controversy, Rahul Gandhi offered an explanation, accusing the Prime Minister of twisting his words. He also asserted that by 'Shakti,' he was referring to the power of the state.
