BJP candidate Sunny Deol, brother Bobby Deol make 'filmy' entry inside polling booth in Mumbai; Here is why

NEW DELHI: Bollywood actors such as Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Urmila Matondkar, Salman Khan on Monday voted in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Mumbai. Actor and BJP candidate from Gurdaspur parliamentary constituency Sunny Deol made ‘filmy’ entry to the polling booth in Mumbai. Deol, who was in Amritsar earlier today, was seen running inside the polling booth. The actor had just had two minutes to cast his vote and he came running with his brother Bobby Deol. At the spot, Mumbai police helped him to get in quickly so that the actor could cast his vote. Earlier in the day, the BJP candidate was in Punjab filed his nomination papers for the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat after which he had flown back to Mumbai where the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections was being conducted. In Gurdaspur, Deol is pitted against sitting MP and Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar, Aam Aadmi Party's Peter Masih and People's Democratic Alliance's Lal Chand in Gurdaspur. Jakhar won the seat in a 2017 bye-election, necessitated by the death of Vinod Khanna in April that year. The actor had represented the seat four-times, in 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2014. Before filing his papers in Gurdaspur, Deol offered prayers at the Golden Temple and the Durgiana Temple in Amritsar. Monday was the last day for filing nominations for polling which be held on May 19, the last phase of voting in the Lok Sabha elections. In the state, Dharmendra asked the people of Gurdaspur to back his son, saying his victory will be that of the people of my Punjab. Polling on all the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab will be held in the seventh and final phase on May 19.
