Traffic Curbs On Bengaluru’s Old Airport & Varthur Road Today: Check Timings & Alternate Routes

In Bengaluru, authorities have imposed a 3-hour traffic regulation on Old Airport Road and Varthur Road, while metro construction and flyover maintenance continue to affect other parts of the city.

Bengaluru commuters are advised to brace for traffic disruptions on Friday as key roads face temporary restrictions owing to a high-profile VVIP visit and ongoing infrastructure projects. The authorities have imposed a three-hour traffic regulation on Old Airport Road and Varthur Road, while metro construction and flyover maintenance continue to affect other parts of the city.

Restrictions At Old Airport, Varthur Road

The Bengaluru Traffic Police announced that restrictions would be in place from 11:15 AM to 2:30 PM on March 7, 2025. While officials have not disclosed the VVIP’s identity, it is suggested that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be in the city to inaugurate Vishwateertha Mahaswami Hospital in Nelamangala and attend other official programs.

In an advisory DCP Traffic East officials said, "In view of the VVIP visit to Bengaluru on 07.03.2025, vehicle users are requested to use alternative roads instead of the following roads during the specified time period. Morning from 11:15 am to 02:30 pm: Old Airport Road and Varthur Road. The public are requested to co-operate."

Meanwhile, heavy congestion is reportedly witnessed on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Marathahalli due to metro construction activities. Commuters traveling from Kaadubeesanahalli to Karthiknagar have been asked to expect delays and plan accordingly.

Electronics City Flyover To Remain Closed Overnight

Adding to the disruptions, the Electronics City Flyover on Hosur Road will remain closed nightly from 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM, starting March 5, 2025, as part of maintenance work undertaken by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Daytime travel will remain unaffected, but authorities have advised motorists to account for nighttime diversions.

NHAI officials emphasised that the maintenance work is essential to ensure road safety and longevity. "During the day, it will be open to all types of vehicles from 06-00 am to 11-00 pm. The public is requested to cooperate," officials said.
