The SHO stated that the police received information about the incident around 7:45 pm on Wednesday, after which officers quickly arrived at the scene.
A 20-year-old student, preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), reportedly committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan in his PG room in the Kota district of Rajasthan, police stated on Wednesday.
Vigyan Nagar Police Station SHO Mukesh Meena stated that the identified deceased, Abhishek Lodha, was a resident of the Guna district of Madhya Pradesh. He has been preparing for the JEE at a coaching institute in Kota since May last year. He was living in a PG room in the Dakaniya area under the Vigyan Nagar Police Station.
According to PTI, the SHO stated that the police received information about the incident around 7:45 pm on Wednesday, after which officers quickly arrived at the scene. The youth's body has been moved to the hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem will be conducted once his family members, who have been informed of the tragic event, arrive, he added.
Abhishek Lodha's Suicide Note
According to a report by NDTV, Abhishek Lodha, left a note indicating he felt unable to clear the JEE, the entrance exam required for admission to the country's top engineering colleges. "I'm unable to study. I am preparing for the JEE exams, but it's beyond me. Sorry," the note read.
His elder brother Ajay stated that Lodha was good at academics and had insisted on going to Kota for coaching. His uncle, who travelled to Kota to collect the body, mentioned they spoke to him daily, and he never expressed any stress related to his studies.
"He always said everything was good and going well. 'I am busy with preparations' is what he told us. The last time we spoke to him was the evening before the incident," his uncle said.
Police also indicated that the case appears to be of exam stress."It appears to be stress. We will write to the administration to take action against the PG accommodation as the room where the student died did not have an anti-hanging device in the fan," said Mukesh Meena, Vigyan Nagar police station in-charge.
In a similar incident, the second case of suicide was found in coaching hub Kota within 24 hours where another 19-year-old JEE aspirant from Haryana identified as Neeraj was found hanging in his hostel room on Tuesday.
