Delhi Earthquake: Last 5 Tremors That Shook National Capital, Neighbouring Areas
An earthquake of 4.0 magnitude hit Delhi-NCR on February 17, 2025. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 5 km at around 5:36 AM.

Delhi on Monday woke up to strong jolts as an earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale hit the national capital and its adjoining regions.
According to the National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 5 km and its location was New Delhi. The strong temors were felt at 5:36 AM, causing residents to rush out of their homes in panic.

January 7, 2025
A strong earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale hit Tibet's Xizang area at 6:35 AM on January 7 due to which residents of Delhi-NCR also experienced light seismic acitivity. The earthquake had killed at least 126 people and injured over 180 in Tibet. However, no cases of injury or damages were reported from Delhi.
According to reports, the first quake occurred at 6:35 AM (IST) followed by 13 aftershocks in Xizang in a short time difference. The aftershocks ranged from magnitude 4.9 to 4.2 on the Richter scale.
December 26, 2024
An earthquake measuring 2.6 magnitiude on Richter scale hit Sonipat in Haryana, resulting in mild tremors in parts of Delhi-NCR. The earthquake orginated at a depth of 10 km on December 26 at around 9:42 AM. This was the second earthquake experienced by Delhi-NCR in less than 24 hours.
December 25, 2024
A day earlier, another earthquake of 3.5 magnitude had struck Sonipat, Haryana on December 25, causing mild tremors in Delhi-NCR as well.

September 11, 2024
An earthquake of 5.8 magnitude struck Pakistan on September 11, 2024, with major cities including Lahore and Islamabad feeling the temors. It was centres 25 kilometres southwest of Karor at a depth of 33 kilometres.
This caused Delhi and several other states including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh to feel the jolts, with tremors reaching as far as Afghanistan.
August 29, 2024
Delhi-NCR felt mild tremors on August 29, 2024 after an earhquake of magnitude 5.7 on the Richter scale hit Afghanistan at 11:26 AM.
According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake struck at a depth of 255 kilometres. "EQ of M: 5.7, On: 29/08/2024 11:26:38 IST, Lat: 36.51 N, Long: 71.12 E, Depth: 255 Km, Location: Afghanistan," NCS said in a post on X.
