PM Modi Lauds India In Pixels On Twitter For Explaining UPI, Digital Transaction

"...I really liked how you’ve used the sound of money transacted through data sonification to effectively convey the point. Very interesting, impressive and obviously informative," Modi tweeted

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that he has often talked about unified payments interface (UPI) and digital payments in India. In a tweet, Modi shared a 57-second-long video by India in Pixels, a data story telling channel that explains different stories through numbers.

The Prime Minister tweeted, “I’ve spoken about UPI and Digital Payments quite often but I really liked how you’ve used the sound of money transacted through data sonification to effectively convey the point. Very interesting, impressive and obviously informative!”

India in Pixels have also retweeted the Modi’s comment and said UPI is truly a revolution that is being noted globally.

In a tweet, India in Pixels said, “Missed a heartbeat seeing this! Thank you so much Narendra Modi sir for appreciating my idea- UPI is truly a revolution that the whole world is taking notice of. This pat on my back will keep me going for years, thank you so much!”

According to news report, Ashris Choudhary, creator of India in Pixels, is a software engineer who studied architecture at university. India in Pixels, one of his many side projects, visualises data about India across different fields and has garnered 1.3 crore views.

Since its launch five years ago, the UPI platform has made sending money as easy as sending an email by giving users Virtual Payment Addresses (VPAs) that channel cash directly to and from bank accounts.

Meanwhile, in FY21-22, payments worth about Rs 83.45 lakh crore were processed through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). In March 2022, UPI achieved another significant milestone — it processed 5.04 billion transactions for the first time, according to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), according to a news report.
