Delhivery, Xpressbees To Venture Into Quick-Commerce As Demand Soars: Report

Based out of Pune, Xpressbees is also planning to enter the quick-commerce segment and is in talks with several industry players, the report stated citing sources familiar with the issue

Logistics firms Delhivery and Xpressbees are considering an expansion in their services to cater to the increasing demand in the quick commerce sector. The companies are reportedly planning to move beyond the traditional e-commerce sector.

According to a report by The Economic Times, Delhivery has begun managing larger warehouses for Swiggy Instamart. The report cited sources and said this change is being driven by platforms like Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart, etc. These warehouses help supply to the smaller stores or fulfillment centers inside city limits, the report noted.

Based out of Pune, Xpressbees is also planning to enter the quick-commerce segment and is in talks with several industry players, the report stated citing sources familiar with the issue.

The report also noted that firms like Zepto are rethinking their warehouses to be able to accomodate a larger range of products. Citing a source, the report said, “As quick commerce continues to grow, logistics players are recognizing the opportunity while platforms require robust logistics infrastructure and expertise.”

Despite the developments, the report cited a senior official at a third-party logistic firm and said that the quick-commerce players have a preference to operate their dark stores independently owing to the specialised customisations and technology needed. “These players are experts in managing dark stores and want to maintain control,” the source added.

Citing another source, the report said, “Xpressbees will also handle some of the heavy lifting in warehouse management.” Delhivery intends to expand its partnership with Swiggy Instamart to help further move several stock-keeping units (SKUs).
