Rishabh Pant Was Driving Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 4MATIC Coupe: All About The SUV

Indian cricket team's star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant had a narrow escape after his Mercedes car collided with a divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway and burst into flames on Friday. The accident happened after the 25-year-old apparently dozed off at the wheel. 

Pant, who was on his way to his hometown Roorkee to meet his mother, is in a stable condition. BCCI said in a statement that Pant had two cuts on his forehead and a ligament tear in his right knee. He has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back.

The southpaw was brought out of the burning Mercedes in the nick of time by the driver and other staff of a Haryana Roadways bus passing by. The car, a Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 4MATIC Coupe, was completely charred and reduced to a mangled heap.

  • The Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 4MATIC Coupe has now been discontinued in India. The car, whose on-road price is around Rs 1.03 crore, was bought by Rishabh Pant on September 25, 2019.
  • This car, a luxury five-seater SUV, was sold in India from 2017 to 2020 and then replaced with a newer model.
  • The car comes loaded with safety features like seven airbags, 360-degree camera, four discs, LED intelligent light system, co-driver fire extinguisher, attention assist and pre-safe safety system.
  • The Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 4MATIC Coupe features a 3.0-litre, bi-turbo petrol motor that gives a maximum power of 367 bhp along with a peak torque of 520 Nm.
  • The SUV comes with a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The car can attain a speed of 100 kmph in just 5.7 seconds. The car has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
  • The Mercedes SUV comes with a driver assistance package, offering distronic plus steering assist. The feature uses built-in radar to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you.
  • It also has pre-safe brake, active brake assist with cross-traffic assist, active lane keeping assist and active blind spot protection.
