New Tata Harrier Vs Safari Facelift: Key Differences

Both SUVs have an edgy new look also seen with the new Nexon facelift but there are subtle differences with the Harrier having a sportier look vs the Safari getting a more luxurious stance.

Tata has revealed its much-awaited Harrier and Safari facelifts with a focus on cosmetic changes including a new look while this time there is increased differentiation amongst these two flagship Tata SUVs. Here is a quick look at what you get with these two new cars.

Both SUVs have an edgy new look also seen with the new Nexon facelift but there are subtle differences with the Harrier having a sportier look vs the Safari getting a more luxurious stance. Dimension-wise, the Safari is longer of course but looks are also different. The upper grille is much bigger and is greeted by a full-width LED light bar along with bigger intakes. The key differences lie in the headlamp design and the shape while the pattern is also different between the two SUVs. While in the Harrier, the two-part grille is contrast black/silver, the Safari has matched body-coloured inserts. Both SUVs also have a unique design for the 19-inch alloys which are now amongst the biggest in their class.

The Safari on the inside gets a different interior colour with a luxurious dark wood finish/beige/white look while the Harrier is sportier with an all-black design but also heavily influenced by the exterior colour in terms of accents used on the inside for a contrast look.

Features include 7 airbags including a knee airbag, 10 JBL speakers, dual-zone climate control, a steering wheel with an illuminated logo, a panoramic sunroof, a multi-screen instrument cluster with navigation display, mood light themes, a rear door sunshade, Bejeweled Terrain Response Mode Selector with Display, steering paddles, 360-degree view camera, 12.3-inch touchscreen, ventilated seats, ADAS, gesture-controlled power tailgate etc. The Safari additionally gets an electric boss mode and second-row ventilated seats.

There is no change in the diesel engine though with the same 2.0l unit with 170bhp/350Nm along with a 6-speed AT/Manual gearbox option. There are terrain response and drive modes too.

Finally, the variants are now changed with the Safari being available with Smart, Pure, Adventure and Accomplished trims along with the Harrier coming in Smart, Pure, Adventure and Fearless variants.

Bookings have started at Rs 25,000 with prices due to be announced soon. The Safari is more spacious and is the more luxurious iteration while the Harrier has a more distinct sportier look. Look out for our drive review soon.
