MG Hector New Vs Old: New Looks, ADAS Features And More — Here’s Detailed Comparison
MG Hector New Vs Old: The new Hector comes with a price increase over the earlier Hector but it features considerable improvements as well. Know all about it here.
MG Motor recently launched the new Hector in India and its most popular product has been armed with a lot of tweaks including new exteriors and interiors. Hence, here is a quick comparison between the old and the new Hector to see what all has changed.
Exteriors
The new Hector is instantly recognisable due to its massive new front grille which occupies nearly the entire face while surely giving it more presence. Compared to the new one, the older one with the smaller grille is less attention-grabbing. Grille aside, the front bumper has been tweaked although the split headlamp/DRL treatment continues to be the same as the older Hector. The side view is also unchanged while the rear gets a new look thanks to connected taillamps and a new badging along with ADAS being now mentioned at the back. The changes make the car look wider.
Interiors
The interiors offer a more drastic change with improved quality, design and overall materials. We like the new air vents while the dual-tone look adds to the premium factor. Of course, most of the attention is diverted to the new 14-inch HD touchscreen and the new digital instrument cluster. There is new trim being added in terms of a new finish while the centre console has more buttons now too. The new Hector also has an electronic parking brake now while the other big highlight is the inclusion of ADAS features - something missing on the earlier Hector.
Engines
There is no change here as the Hector continues with the line-up of a 1.5l turbo petrol though there is no mild hybrid on offer now while the 2.0l diesel also continues. The petrol comes with a CVT automatic while not getting the DCT petrol anymore unlike the earlier Hector which originally came with a DCT petrol. The diesel remains manual only.
Prices
The new Hector is priced at Rs 14.7 lakh onward while the top-end version is Rs 21.7 lakh. That is a price increase over the earlier Hector but there are considerable improvements including the new looks, added features and the massive screen while the updated cabin scores big as well.
