Well, do note that prices for the City hybrid are not out yet and also the Nexon EV would be getting a long-range version soon. However, we decided to do a small specs comparison to see which one is better suited for you.

Dimensions

The City hybrid and the Nexon EV are basically different cars but car buyers might consider both of them before buying anyone. In terms of dimensions, the Nexon EV is shorter but wider than the Honda City Hybrid which being a sedan is longer. In terms of ground clearance, the Nexon EV of course being an SUV has the better figure. In design terms, there are small touches for both cars that make them stand out as the hybrid/EV version.

Specs

The City hybrid gets 1.5l petrol and two electric motors. In the boot of the City hybrid lies a lithium-ion battery pack. Total power is roughly 124 bhp and 253Nm of torque. The Nexon EV gets a 30.2KWH battery pack with 127bhp and 245nm. Both cars do not have conventional gearboxes but to the average buyer, they drive like an automatic. However, the City hybrid gets steering-mounted controls for regenerative braking. The City has electric mode plus hybrid and engine modes. It can run on EV mode at lower speeds before hybrid power takes over. The Nexon EV is of course an electric car and only runs on electric power so even at high speeds, it is still silent while being an EV.

Range & Mileage

The Nexon EV has a claimed range of 312km while the City e:HEV has a claimed mileage of 26.5 kmpl. A standard AC charger will take about 8-9 hours to charge the battery for the Nexon EV but for the City hybrid there is no need to charge the battery yourself but you do need to fill it with petrol any standard petrol car.

Features

The Nexon EV comes well equipped with a premium audio system, connected car tech, sunroof, auto headlamps, climate control, and more. The same can be said for the City hybrid which also comes with a sunroof, touchscreen, and premium audio system while also getting lane watch tech. However, the City hybrid does get ADAS features as a bonus.

Which To Buy?

The Nexon EV price range is between Rs 14.54 - 17.15 Lakh while the City hybrid is expected in one trim level only and would be priced around/or maybe slightly higher than the top-end Nexon EV. It is clear that if you do not have access to a charging network at home or travel outside cities, the City hybrid makes sense since it does not require you to charge or have range anxiety. The Nexon EV on the other hand does need any fuel to fill and as a strict city use, it also makes sense. As per your usage pattern, do decide which is better. If you drive more and do not want the hassle of charging then City hybrid makes sense while Nexon EV is for those who do not want to get affected by high fuel prices anymore.
