BYD Seal vs Hyundai Loniq 5: Which Is Best Premium EV?

The Ioniq 5 has been one of the best-selling EVs at this price point till now. However, BYD aims to capitalise on this market with its Seal model, targeting the premium electric vehicle segment. The Ioniq 5 is perhaps the closest competitor, but it is an SUV, while the Seal is a sedan. Here we look at how these two cars compete with each other.
Which is the longest?
The Seal has a length of 4800mm while the Ioniq 5 has a length of 4635mm. The Ioniq 5 has a width of 1890mm vs 1875mm of the Seal. The Ioniq 5 is also a tad more spacious with a wheelbase of 3000mm vs 2920mm for the Seal. Ground clearance-wise, the Ioniq 5 also takes the lead with 163mm GC vs 145mm of the Seal.
Which is the fastest?
The Seal comes with two battery packs and single/dual motor forms. The base model has a 61.44 kWh battery pack with a 204PS single motor. There is a bigger 82.56 battery pack while the single motor has a 313PS output, the flagship AWD dual motor has 530PS. This version does 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. The Ioniq 5 has a single motor with a 72.6kWh battery pack with 217PS.
Which EV has more range?
The Ioniq 5 has a claimed range of 631km vs the BYD Seal which has a claimed range of 650km for the single motor 82.56 kWh battery pack version.
Which is more value for money?
The Seal is priced between 41-53 lakh while the Ioniq 5 is priced at Rs 46.05 lakh. The BYD Seal brings in more performance, while the Ioniq 5 has more space and is more practical with ground clearance.
