Why are J&K policemen being targeted by terrorists?

In a horrific incident, terrorists attacked the residence of a Special Police Officer (SPO) of J&K police. SPO Fayaz Ahmed, his wife, and daughter lost their lives in the attack. Reports said that terrorists forced entry into the residence of Fayaz Ahmad and fired indiscriminately. Meanwhile, On June 23 Jammu and Kashmir police inspector Parvaiz Ahmad Dar was killed in a terrorist attack on the outskirts of Srinagar.
