SC backs Modi govt over 'ex-gratia decision' for COVID victims
The Centre government states that families of COVID victims cannot be paid compensation of Rs 4 lakh. The government told the Supreme Court that states cannot afford to pay ₹ 4 lakh to every Covid victim. Explaining their side, Centre said that the Disaster Management Law states that compensation applies only to natural disasters and pandemics would not come under that.
