Beet contains a bacteria known as Chlamydia psittaci, which has been highlighted by Dr. Santosh Mittal, Chairman of the Chest and TB Department at Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College, Meerut. According to Dr. Mittal, this bacterium can enter human lungs through the air, leading to an infection known as psittacosis. Recently, there has been a notable increase in the number of patients infected with this condition. Psittacosis, caused by exposure to infected bird droppings or feathers, underscores the importance of awareness about potential health risks associated with certain foods and environments. Vigilance and appropriate preventive measures are essential to mitigate such health threats effectively.
