It's that time of the year, again. Swedish music streaming giant Spotify has debuted its 2022's installment of Wrapped. Spotify has added a new spin to the year-end personalised top lists by adding a new feature called "Your Listening Personality".
What Is Spotify's 'Your Listening Personality'
Spotify Wrapped 2022's highlight is Your Listening Personality which essentially gives details of what kind of music a user streams and what does it explain about their taste. Your Listening Personality mentions 16 personality types, including The Replayer, The Adventurer, The Fanclubber and The Specialist.
The Spotify Wrapped campaign has been launched for the fourth time in India and like other streaming services, it brings an annual dose of nostalgia by wrapping up users' streaming habits. Spotify Wrapped also includes the top artists, songs, albums and podcasts that made up the dynamic kaleidoscope of its 45.6 crore listeners globally.
In terms of the most-streamed artist in India, Spotify Wrapped 2022 named Arijit Singh for the third consecutive time. The other top streamed artists in India were Pritam at the second spot, followed by AR Rahman, Anirudh Ravichander and Shreya Ghoshal.
The top streamed track in India was “Excuses” by AP Dhillon, Intense, Gurinder Gill, on Spotify in India, with over 19 crore streams this year. The other top tracks in India included "Pasoori" by Shae Gill, Ali Sethi, Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan, Abdullah Siddiquii, Kesariya by Pritam, Arijit Singh, Amitabh Bhattacharya and “No Love” by Shubh.
Late Punjabi singer and rapper Sidhu Moosewala’s “Moosetape” became the most streamed album on Spotify in India this year, followed by “Shershaah”, AP Dhillon’s “Hidden Gems”, “Kabir Singh”, and Pritam’s “Brahmastra”.
Meanwhile, driven by the success of better-than-expected growth in markets like India and Latin America, Spotify recently announced its total monthly active users (MAUs) grew 20 per cent YoY to 456 million in the quarter ending September 30, 2022. Spotify's MAUs in the second quarter were 433 million. The Swedish music streaming giant said its third quarterly performance was positively impacted by "outperformance" across all regions and better than expected intake in India as a result of a multimedia marketing campaign driving activations and reactivations. Spotify also witnessed growth across Latin America, led by Brazil, due to marketing and OEM strength.
