MS Teams Outage: Microsoft said it is “actively investigating other services to confirm the scope of impact.”

Microsoft Teams, the popular business communication platform, is facing a massive outage for users across the world. The Redmond tech giant confirmed on Twitter that it has received reports of users being unable to access Teams or “leverage any feature.” After investigating, it was figured out that the issues have been stemming from a “recent deployment contained a broken connection to an internal storage service.” As Microsoft works on a fix, users have taken to Twitter to share their woes with hilarious memes.

Microsoft first acknowledged the issue via its @MSFT365Status handle on Twitter at around 7:30am IST. It said that the issues is being investigated and further updates can be found on “Service Health Dashboard via TM402718.”

After nearly an hour of investigation, Microsoft tweeted that the issue was caused due to a recent deployment that contained a broken connection to an internal storage device.

Microsoft also added that it has identified “downstream impact” to several Microsoft 365 services such as Word, Office Online, and Sharepoint Online.

The company said that while users might be able to sign in to the Teams desktop app successfully, all functionalities could be down and users may see this message: “We ran into a problem. Reconnecting…”

Users working on the Web client may see this message: “Operation failed with unexpected error.”

“We’ve taken action to reroute a portion of traffic to provide some relief within the environment. We anticipate that some users may be able to access the affected features shortly,” Microsoft said on its 365 Service health status page. “We’re actively investigating other services to confirm the scope of impact.”

At 9:43am IST, Microsoft tweeted that Teams functionality "is beginning to recover."

Users have taken to Twitter to report the outage and express their frustration via memes. Check out some of them below:
