Thousands of users of Microsoft Teams, Outlook and Azure were affected by an outage on Wednesday in India, a report by news agency Reuters said. The tech giant has said it was looking into the disruption after reports suggested the Microsoft platforms were simultaneously down for thousands of users globally.
Microsoft has reportedly said it has “identified a potential networking issue” and is troubleshooting a fix to bring services across Teams, Outlook and Azure back online.
According to outage tracking site Downdetector.com, there have been more than 3,900 incidents of users reporting issues with Microsoft Teams in India. Issues with Microsoft Teams were first reported at 12:17 pm on Wednesday (January 25).
Downdetector also added that a majority of Teams users (63 per cent) were impacted by the disruption while 27 per cent users reported of issues with server connection and 11 per cent reported having issues with the website. Downdetector site tracks outages by collating status reports from sources including user-submitted errors on its platform.
Microsoft has acknowledged the outage and tweeted: "We're investigating issues impacting multiple Microsoft 365 services. More info can be found in the admin center under MO502273."

Microsoft Azure also tweeted: "We are currently investigating a networking issue impacting connectivity to Azure for a subset of users. More information will be provided as it becomes available."
It is unusual to see multiple Microsoft being affected by an outage simultaneously. Earlier in April 2021, Microsoft Teams suffered an outage for two hours across Europe and Asia.
