Apple iOS 16 Installed On Almost 70% Active iPhones

Apple released iOS 16 to the public on September 12, 2022, and its adoption was initially better than last year's iOS 15, in terms of how quickly users were upgrading to the latest iOS version. According to a report by Mixpanel, a third-party analytics website, iOS 16 has been installed on almost 70 per cent of iPhones and iOS 15 on the other hand, is installed on almost 25 per cent of iPhones.

It has been almost 100 days since the latest iteration of iOS has been launched. The iPhone maker periodically releases adoption numbers for its newest operating system, but it has not done that so far. However, Mixpanel has released iOS 16 adoption numbers, which says the new version has been adopted by 68.90 per cent of iPhones, with iOS 15 adoption standing at 24.82 per cent. iPhone models running older iOS operating systems stand at around 7 per cent.

Apple has rolled out several updates to the iOS 16 since its launch in September to fix security bugs and other issues. The Cupertino, California-headquartered tech giant is expected to release the iOS 16.2 update this month, which could bring multiple new features for iPhone users, including Advanced Data Protection, Apple Music Sing, new Lock Screen widgets, new options for the always-on display on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 ProMax, among others.

To recall, iOS 16 was released on September 12, in a phased manner. iPhone users got many new five features with the OS that was compatible with iPhone 8 and later models. The top 5 features launched with iOS 16 release in September were: customisable lockscreens, support for Passkeys and the ability to unsend and edit iMessages.
