Instagram's Private Story Likes Will Let You Like Stories Without Sending A DM

Instagram on Tuesday started rolling out a new feature that it calls the “Private Story Likes” that will let users on the platform like Instagram Stories without sending them a DM.

New Delhi: Meta-owned Instagram on Tuesday started rolling out a new feature that it calls the “Private Story Likes” that will let users on the platform like Instagram Stories without sending them a DM.

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri announced the rollout of "Private Story Likes" feature on Twitter. The latest update from Instagram will let users on the platform engage with a Story by tapping the heart icon, similar to a regular feed post. "❤️ Private Story Likes ❤️ Starting to roll out today, you can now send some love by liking people’s stories without sending a DM. Likes on stories are private and do not have counts. Rather, they appear as hearts next to people’s handles in your Stories view sheet. 🙏🏼," Mosseri tweeted on Tuesday.

Instagram's Private Story Likes feature was announced as part of the Meta-owned company's efforts to improve the messaging experience.

Earlier this month, the Meta-owned company also launched a new feature called "Take a Break" in India and other countries. Take a Break is essentially a feature that will show up for Instagram users, as they have been scrolling for a certain amount of time and they will be asked to take a break from the platform and suggest that they set reminders to take more breaks in the future.

Instagram's Take a Break feature was first launched in the US, the UK, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand and Australia, and it is now available for all users globally, including India.  The Instagram users will also be shown expert-backed tips to help them reflect and reset. To make sure that young people are aware of this feature, they will be shown notifications suggesting they turn these reminders on.
