From Waking Up To Slowly Moving Around In The House: Here's What Jeff Bezos' Morning Routine Looks Like

Jeff Bezos said that he is not as productive as we think. He added that he gets up in the morning, has his coffee and just slowly moves around.

We often think that billionaires or people who are very successful in life wake up at 5 am and are full of energy. They would energise the room that they walk in just with their aura, right? Well, one billionaire is here to burst your bubble. Maybe the quite successful ones are also just like us who wake up groggy in the morning. The executive chairman of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, in a recent interview, shared how he also has a slow-morning routine just like a number of other people.

According to a CNBC report, Bezos doesn’t let his responsibilities get in the way of his slow-moving morning routine. The 60-year-old billionaire on Lex Fridman Podcast said that he kicks off his day by dragging his feet and scrolling on his smartphone. This was a shock for the host as he had just called Bezos one of the "most productive humans in the world.”

He said, “I’m not as productive as you might think I am. First of all, I get up in the morning and I putter. I have a coffee ... and just slowly move around.”

Apart from moving around like a zombie in the morning, Bezos also reads the newspaper and has a chat with his fiancé before he heads out for the gym to do cardio and weightlifting. CNBC quoted him as saying, “Most days, [going to the gym is] not that hard for me, but some days it’s really hard and I do it anyway.”

His morning routine in a way coincides with his philosophy to embrace wandering or doing things aimlessly. He brings this principle with him to the office, where he fosters brainstorming and idea exploration through mind-wandering sessions, ensuring that creativity isn't hampered by time constraints.

This luxury of his morning routine comes from waking up early only but he did not specify the time at which he usually gets up.

The founder of the World Institute of Slowness, Geir Berthelsen, told the Wall Street Journal back in 2019 that slow morning routines can seem lazy or sluggish on the surface, but they can actually result in increased energy, creativity and focus.
