Finance Ministry Calls Meeting With Infosys On Resolving Glitches Of IT Portal
The Income Tax Department launched its new e-filing portal on 7th June, 2021 but the website soon fraught with several technical glitches/issues leading to taxpayer inconvenience.
The Finance Ministry has called a meeting with information technology major Infosys on June 22 to resolve issues/glitches in the recently launched e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department.
"Other stakeholders including members from ICAI, auditors, consultants, and taxpayers will also be a part of the interaction," said a spokesperson for Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) in a statement.

The new portal has been fraught with several technical glitches/issues leading to taxpayer inconvenience.
" Written representations on the problems/difficulties faced in the portal have also been invited from the stakeholders. Representatives from Infosys team will be present to answer queries, clarify issues and receive inputs on the working of the portal, to remove glitches and sort out issues faced by the taxpayers," said the statement.
The Income Tax Department launched its new e-filing portal www.incometax.gov.in on 7th June, 2021, aimed at providing taxpayer convenience and a modern, seamless experience to taxpayers but the website soon fraught with several technical glitches/issues leading to taxpayer inconvenience.
On Monday, the IT department allowed the taxpayers to submit Form 15CA/15CB in manual format to the authorized dealers till June 30, 2021 as the new portal was not accepting forms electronically.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on June 8 tweeted, "The much awaited e-filing portal 2.0 was launched last night 20:45hrs. I see in my TL grievances and glitches. Hope @Infosys & @NandanNilekani will not let down our taxpayers in the quality of service being provided. Ease in compliance for the taxpayer should be our priority."

In response, Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani said, "The new e-filing portal will ease the filing process and enhance end user experience. @nsitharaman ji, we have observed some technical issues on day one, and are working to resolve them. @Infosys regrets these initial glitches and expects the system to stabilise during the week."
However, the users continue to complain about the technical glitches of the new portal.
