Discord Brings Revamped Interface, Search Bar, Improved Loading Times, In New Update
More than 150 million people worldwide are now using on Discord every month.
Popular messaging app Discord, in its latest update, on Wednesday introduced a revamped user interface, refined the search bar, improved loading times and addressed other aspects, in a bid to enhance user experience. As more users spending time using the communication service, Discord has spent the past year making significant improvements to its mobile experience, after taking user feedback. The app now has a fresh look and improved experience, with more ways to customise user experience, and new features that help users and their friends chat and hang out on the go, the company announced.
Discord has already implemented several much-requested improvements this year, including adding global DM search, simplifying media sharing, reducing app-open time by 43 per cent on iOS and 55 per cent on Android. Discord is also letting users access more messages when offline. Recent updates also includes implementing voice messages and a 25MB free file upload limit on mobile devices.
More than 150 million people worldwide are now using on Discord every month for enjoying clubs, learning languages, studying, building software, talking about their daily lives, and playing games, the company noted.
“When we launched the Discord mobile app in 2015, our focus was on building great products for people who play games on PC, with mobile serving as a companion app for when you were away from your keyboard. Now, with more users spending time using Discord on the go, we’re excited to roll out a faster, more reliable app than before, designed specifically for mobile,” Francesco Polizzi, Group Product Manager at Discord, said in a statement.
All Direct Messages (DMs) and Group Direct Messages (GDMs) now live in the Messages tab on Discord. Mobile users can see what all their friends are doing in the moment, whether they are in a voice channel together, playing a game or activity, or just listening to something on Spotify. Users can also "mark favourite", specific DMs or GDMs in the app, so they will always appear at the top of the Messages tab.
Whenever there's a new development, Discord users can navigate to the Notifications tab to stay informed about @mentions. This tab now includes Server Events, updates on Friend Requestsand replies to messages. Every notification is interactive: tap an @mention to go directly to its location. Accepted a new friend request? A simple tap on the notification takes users to a direct message with them. If a Server event begins, tapping the notification swiftly directs users to the relevant server. Notifications now auto-clear upon being read, streamlining the process and saving time on manual clearing.
