ChatGPT Vs Grok: How Elon Musk's New AI Chatbot Fares Against OpenAI Tool. Check Out Biggest Differences

While Grok derives data from X (formerly Twitter), ChatGPT draws knowledge from a wide range of online sources.

In a recent development, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence startup, xAI, has introduced a new chatbot named Grok, expected to present a significant challenge to ChatGPT. Musk has been actively sharing insights into Grok through his social media platform, X, which was formerly known as Twitter. Grok, as revealed by Musk, is designed with a touch of humour in its responses, accompanied by a rebellious streak and a penchant for sarcasm. The company also stated that Grok is willing to answer spicy questions that are often declined by other AI systems.

ChatGPT vs Grok: Biggest Differences

ChatGPT, created by OpenAI, draws its knowledge from a wide array of sources, including Common Crawl, web content, books, and Wikipedia. In contrast, Grok is trained using real-time data derived from the X platform, providing it with a unique advantage in terms of up-to-the-minute information. Grok is a product of Elon Musk's xAI and a team of AI experts, while ChatGPT originates from OpenAI, an AI research organization. The differing ownership structures play a role in shaping the development and direction of these AI systems.

ChatGPT was made publicly accessible in November 2022, offering its extensive capabilities to a broad user base. Grok, however, is currently in its beta phase and limited to users within the United States. Elon Musk has indicated that once it exits early beta, Grok will be available to all X Premium+ subscribers.

ChatGPT vs Grok: Pricing

ChatGPT provides users with two options: a free basic version with limited real-time data updates and a premium version priced at $20 per month, offering real-time information access. Grok, in contrast, is available to X's premium subscribers at a lower monthly cost of $16, potentially making it a more cost-effective choice.

xAI, launched by Elon Musk earlier this year, includes former employees of organizations like OpenAI and DeepMind. The company is actively seeking to expand its team, with job listings for roles such as AI Tutor and Member of Technical Staff posted on the X platform.

Regarding the purpose behind introducing Grok, xAI has expressed the intention to design AI tools that are useful to people from diverse backgrounds and political perspectives. They aim to empower their users within legal boundaries and, with Grok, seek to explore and demonstrate this approach publicly.
