Meanwhile, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) warned that not all 12-digit numbers are Aadhaar. UIDAI has issued a warning against frauds that ask for verification before accepting the Aadhaar card as identity proof.

How to verify Aadhar card online-
- 1) First of all log on to the direct link Resident.uidai.gov.in/verify
- 2) Enter the 12 digit number
- 3) Enter the security code or captcha
- 4) Click on 'Proceed to Verify' option
- The authenticity of the 12 digit number will appear on your screen.
