'Whatever Action I Have To Take...': Congress Rajasthan In-Charge Amid Pilot's Padyatra

Congress in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa's remarks come in the wake of ‘Jan Sangharsh Padayatra’ of Sachin Pilot to raise the issue of alleged corruption and cases of paper leak in govt exams.

New Delhi: Amid a renewed challenge from Congress leader Sachin Pilot, Rajasthan party in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Friday said he is keeping a “close tab on the entire development” in the state and will submit a report on the same to party chief Mallikarjun Kharge after he returns from Karnataka, news agency IANS reported. He made the remarks after a meeting with the Rajasthan unit chief, Govind Singh Dotasra, party's co-in-charges for Rajasthan Qazi Muhammad Nizamuddin, Amrita Dhawan and Virendra Rathore.

“I am keeping a complete tab on the entire development in Rajasthan and once Khargeji returns from Karnataka I will share my report with him,” IANS quoted Randhawa as saying.

This comes in the wake of ‘Jan Sangharsh Padayatra’, the 125 km foot march launched by Congress leader Sachin Pilot to raise the issue of alleged corruption and cases of paper leak in government recruitment exams.

Asked if Randhawa would take any action against Pilot, he said, “Whatever action I have to take, I will not reveal. I am watching everything.” He also termed the foot march as “personal”.

Notably, the five-day yatra, launched on Thursday, is being seen as a pressure tactic by Pilot on the party leadership, with just months ahead of the crucial Rajasthan Assembly elections.

Earlier on Tuesday, the day when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Rajasthan, Pilot slammed chief minister Ashok Gehlot for praising BJP leaders and said he “praised BJP leaders, but tarnished the image of the party's own MPs and MLAs.”

On Sunday, CM Gehlot said that former chief minister Vasundhara Raje and two BJP leaders, Kailash Meghwal and Shobharani Kushwaha, helped him in saving his government.

Speaking on Gehlot's statement, Sachin Pilot said, "Gehlot should explain why there are two faces to his statement. If he says that BJP was trying to topple the government and on the other side, he says that Raje was trying to save his government, then what does he want to say?"
