Nagpur Factory Blast: Police Register Case Against Unidentified People
Following the blast at a Solar Explosive Factory, Nagpur police have registered a case against unidentified people.
The Nagpur Police has lodged a case against unidentified people in connection with the blast that killed nine people at a solar explosive factory in Maharashtra's Nagpur on Sunday. The explosion occurred when workers were engaged in the production and packaging of Trinitrotoluene (TNT) chemical which is a potent yellow explosive material widely used in military applications. Police officials told news agency PTI that search teams recovered several body parts from the blast site in the Chakdoh area.
The case has been lodged under Sections 304 (a) (causing death by negligence) and 286 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance) on the basis of a complaint of Kandhali police station's Assistant Police Inspector Pankaj Waghode. An official told PTI that the accused will be identified during the investigation.
Solar Explosive Factory Blast & Its Aftermath
A blast occurred at Nagpur's Solar Explosive Factory on Sunday morning killing nine workers who were working in the 6 am to 2 pm shift. The single-door facility also collapsed and body parts of the deceased were trapped under the debris. After the incident, angry locals and the relatives of the deceased blocked the Amravati-Nagpur highway which runs along the site of the manufacturing unit. The people demanded access to the premises to have one last look at their loved ones.
The police tried to control the mob and later dispersed the crowd.
Police used drones and deployed a bomb detection along with a disposal squad and forensic team for evidence collection, reported PTI.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the site on Sunday night and talked to the kin of the deceased. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also visited and interacted with the relatives of the deceased. He said that the Maharashtra government will give a compensation of Rs 5 lakhs each to the kin of the dead and the compensation amount from the company will be Rs 20 lakhs each.
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar also visited the spot and said CM Shinde had ordered an inquiry into the tragic incident.
