Jharkhand Governor Invites Champai Soren To Form Govt

Raj Bhawan has invited Champai Soren, Leader of the JMM Legislative Party, to take charge and form the government of Jharkhand.

Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan on Thursday invited Champai Soren, the Leader of the JMM Legislative Party, to assume office and lead the government in the state. This move follows a series of significant developments in Ranchi, where earlier in the day, a JMM delegation met with the governor. During the meeting, the governor indicated that the acceptance of the proposal to form the government under Champai Soren's leadership was in progress, with an update expected the following day.

The invitation comes after the plan of JMM-led coalition MLAs to fly to Hyderabad from Ranchi amid a political crisis in Jharkhand was cancelled as the chartered planes hired for it could not take off due to poor visibility.

"Three flights were cancelled after 6.30 pm due to poor visibility. Chances of taking off chartered flights today are also negligible," confirmed Airport Director RR Maurya to PTI. Two chartered planes were scheduled to transport the MLAs to Hyderabad.

Champai Soren To Be Next CM Of Jharkhand:

Champai Soren, set to become the next Chief Minister of Jharkhand, has a notable journey from a humble farm worker in Jilingora village to being hailed as "Jharkhand's Tiger." A loyalist of JMM president Shibu Soren, Champai Soren played a crucial role in the fight for the creation of a separate Jharkhand state in the 1990s.

Reflecting on his political journey, Champai Soren, the state transport minister, remarked, "I used to work in farms along with my father... Now fate has offered me a different role." Elected as the leader of the JMM legislative party following Hemant Soren's resignation as the Chief Minister and subsequent arrest in a money laundering case, Champai Soren is known for his resilience.

Matriculating from a government school, Champai Soren entered politics by winning an independent MLA by-election from Saraikela in 1991. His political career, marked by victories and defeats, includes serving as a cabinet minister in the BJP government and later holding the portfolio of Minister of Food and Civil Supplies and Transport in Hemant Soren's government.
